Zacchaeus Song Survey
Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 01:07PM If you're a worship leader, do you know the lyrics to the old Sunday School song, "Zacchaeus"? If you do, create a comment below and type in the lyrics, or--and this is just as important to me--just say you don't know the song. I'll start it for you:
Zacchaeus was a wee little man...
Middle of the week, depending on the results of this survey, I have a theory to postulate, if you'll indulge me here.
Thanks!

Although it's fun to see the variations (and let's hear 'em), what I'm really after is whether or not you know the song. You don't have to type all the lyrics in, if you're in a hurry.

Zaccheus was a wee little man
a wee little man was he.
He climbed up in a sycomore tree
for the Lord he wanted to see
And then that day when he came by
he looked up in the sky
and he said (you've got point your fingers here)
Zaccheuas ... you come down
For I'm going to your house today.
For I'm going to your house today.
How did I do?

Impressive! Did you do the hand motions on the words 'you come down', shaking your finger with every word?
I thought it went...
Zaccheus was a wee little man
a wee little man was he.
He climbed up in a sycomore tree
for the Lord he wanted to see
And as the Savior
passed that way
He looked up in the tree
and he said (you've got point your fingers here)
Zaccheuas ... you come down
For I'm going to your house today.
For I'm going to your house today.
And of course, I had to shake my finger. You can't sing the song, with out the finger.
Of course I know this song (I probably accompanied the little sunday school kids while they sang it)-- and so do my children.
I have to agree with Dorothy on the lyrics ("And as the Savior passed that way")
I'm with the vicar of vibe...except I spell 'sycamore' like that <-----. That's the way I know the lyric.
And you gotta do the finger thing, and the eye-shading thing, and everything else.
Yeah, I remember it (though I haven't sang it in years). I remember the line in questions as Dorothy reported it, although there could very well be slight variations in different churches and regions.
I'm with Dorothy on the lyrics and the hand gestures. Pop quiz: Can you do "Deep and Wide" and get the hand gestures right? :-)
Either I'm the only person who doesn't know the song, or the only person brave enough to admit it. I DO know "Deep and wide" with ALL the hand gestures.
And you didn't think I was that coordinated.
Yes, I know that song. At my last church, (I've been gone 5 yrs) it was a mainstay! LOL!
